Open Cellars and Christmas Market 2024
A must-see weekend to discover the Château de Valmer winery!
On December 7th and 8th, discover the 16th-century troglodyte caves and wine cellars, usually closed to the public, with Jean de Saint Venant, a passionate and captivating winemaker.
Terroir and craftsmanship enthusiasts can enjoy the Christmas Market, which brings together local producers eager to share their expertise and help you find your Christmas gifts.
Guided tours will be personally led by the owner, Jean de Saint Venant, who represents the fifth generation of passionate winemakers working the Valmer vineyards since the 19th century to produce exceptional wines.
Additionally, the longest gourd competition - Lagenaria siceraria - returns to Château de Valmer for its eighth edition! Those who purchased gourd plants at the Bons Plan(t)s event on April 27th and 28th are invited to bring their produce. Many prizes await those who have managed to grow the longest gourds!
On the program for this weekend:
- Guided tours of the cellars and wine warehouses with Jean de Saint Venant at 11 AM, 2 PM, and 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday (duration approximately 1 hour)
- Wine tasting and sales of Château de Valmer AOC Vouvray and AOC Touraine Rosé wines
- Free access to the gardens, troglodyte chapel, and historic park
- Christmas Market with local producers and artisans
- On-site dining
- Garden Game - a family game to explore the gardens
- Longest gourd competition on Sunday, December 8th
