Château de Valmer - Wines & gardens Certificate of Excellence 2018

A family history

Paul Lefèvre, great-grandfather of the current owner, discovered the Valmer estate and bought it in 1888. Successive generations have since restored and embellished it relentlessly.

Adhémar and Renée de Saint Venant will manage the estate wisely then, after years of captivity during the war, Jean-Claude and Sylviane will have to face the tragedy of the castle fire. They opened the site to visitors in 1980.

Since their marriage in 1972, Aymar and Alix have been passionate about Valmer. Aymar takes over the abandoned vineyard and decides to replant the vineyard. Alix, for her part, rediscovers the original 17th century plan; now a landscape gardener, she is working on the restoration of the gardens. A new adventure can begin.

In 2009, their son Jean took up the torch, extended the vineyard, modernised the cellars and refined the methods of cultivation. The sixth generation, for the moment, is making sand pies and discovering the joy of picking strawberries in the vegetable garden!
